Scheggino

The fortress town of Scheggino was founded when the first agricultural settlements in the area moved onto the hills surrounding the valley of the river Nera. From the old tower overlooking Scheggino you can enjoy an amazing view of the Nera River flowing slowly in a sort of idyllic garden, the Valnerina. Scheggino is 281 meters above sea level. Its district covers an area of approximately 35.17 square kilometres and it is home to about five hundred people, the "Schegginesi".
